Who we are
Labour Against the Assisted Dying Bill is an independent group of Labour MPs, peers, campaigners and party members campaigning on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. It is not an official body of the Labour Party and holds no formal party status. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), the campaign is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
The campaign’s named controller and contact address will be confirmed and published here before launch.
What we collect
Very little. This site has no sign-up, no mailing list and no account of any kind. The only way it collects personal data is if you choose to write to us.
- When you contact us: your name, email address, optional organisation, and whatever you include in your message.
- When you simply read the site: nothing that identifies you. See “Cookies and analytics” below.
Political opinion data
Writing to a campaign about a Bill can reveal a political opinion, which is special-category data under UK GDPR. We therefore treat the contents of your message as confidential: we use it only to reply to you and to do the thing you asked us to do. We do not build a supporter list from enquiries, we never sell or share your details, and we do not profile you.
How we use your details
- To read and reply to your message.
- To follow up on what you asked for — for example sending a briefing note, or putting you in touch with a spokesperson.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running the campaign and answering people who contact us. Where a message reveals a political opinion, we rely on Article 9(2)(d) — processing by a not-for-profit political body in the course of its legitimate activities, relating only to people who have made contact with it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to deal with the matter you raised, and delete them when the campaign concludes at the latest. You can ask us to delete your message and our reply at any time.
Who processes it
- SiteGround hosts the website and stores enquiries submitted through the contact form.
- Cloudflare provides the Turnstile anti-spam check on the form.
- Resend delivers contact-form submissions to the campaign team by email.
All act as processors under contract. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before any data moves.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets one cookie: cookie_consent, which records your choice in the cookie banner (kept for around six months; strictly necessary, so it is set without consent). Our visitor statistics are cookieless and aggregate — they tell us how many people visited, never who you are. We deliberately do not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers on this site: traffic to a campaign about a Bill can reveal a political opinion, and we would rather not hold that data at all.
If we ever add analytics that set cookies, they will stay off until you accept them via the banner, and this page will list them first.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- have it erased;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- object to processing carried out under legitimate interests.
Contact and complaints
To exercise any right, or ask anything about this policy, use the contact form. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
